I’ll keep it short… I love death metal… I love Vital Remains. Here is Vital Remains with Disciples of Hell originally by Yngwie Malmsteen. so from progressive to death metal… seemless. enjoy or die \m/
Today’s cover comes to you from Nu-Metal pioneers Deftones… what i particularly like about this cover is their ability to really make this song theirs without the original composition being completely obscured. They use the octave chords they are so fond of in lieu of keyboards and synth and the vocalist Chino really focused on his phrasing and tone so it all sounds great. Sexy song… take Deftones to the bedroom with you… i guarantee success and as always enjoy!
Today’s cover comes to you by post punk band Botch. a good friend had showed me this years ago and when another friend mentioned Rock Lobster at work the other day i knew i had to post this. Love the energy in this. The most unlikely covers are usually the most fun. Enjoy!
Woo! It’s been awhile! Anyway this cover comes brought to you by the awesome band Periphery who i caught at the beginning of this month along with Protest the Hero and Jeff Loomis. So being that it is a Slipknot cover there isn’t really much to it… they just made the song audible, heavier, better. Not a Slipknot fan if you haven’t guessed by now but this is really awesome. Enjoy!
Today’s cover is definitely one of the more easy listening ones in my repertoire. Admittedly i am not a huge Third Eye Blind fan or even a huge Bedlight for Blue Eyes fan for that matter. (Although I would take the latter choice definitely.) That being said this is a beautiful, beautiful song. It is very light and the singer has a great range and does not stray from the sort of somber, and serious tone that i think really represents the subject matter of the song.(Much like how Anberlin’s cover of ‘Enjoy the Silence’ by Depeche Mode does, which i might post later on anyhow.)Also great substitution choices in piano and guitar.Just a very bright and soulful composition… anyhow i am done gushing and running around in circles. Let the song do the talking and enjoy!
i just saw Children of Bodom and Eluveitie on valentine’s day and had a drunken and pain induced blast so in the spirit of it all here is a cover From Children of Bodom. They have been known to do quite a few covers… some very unorthodox ones at that! Names including Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers and even Britney Spears. Being that i am also a huge King Diamond fan i am selecting this one to showcase… still very high energy and the playful attempt at recreating King’s unbeatable falsetto is a lot of fun as well. Enjoy!
Some months ago i was watching The Lost Boys with someone and he had said “i love this song.” and i said “yeah i wonder who does this it sounds alot like the Doors.” he had replied that it was The Doors and then i mentioned that it sounds like it and it is their song but this wasn’t them performing it. So naturally we waited till the ending credits to seem who claimed bragging rights. I was right but was even more surprised to learn that Echo and the Bunnymen were behind the cover. I commend them for their range as I’m used to their usual post punk style but they really nailed the 70’s feel in this almost completely replicated cover track. Enjoy!
Hello all! this is my first post and as such to properly christen my tumblr i figure that my first cover should be by, my favorite band, Katatonia. Here is “Nightmares by the Sea.” (youtube title is wrong.) originally written by the late Jeff Buckley. I love this cover because, even though Katatonia has made this song uniquely their own, their version and the original both still share a very somber, almost dreary tone. Enjoy!
